What’s Up Gymmers! I hope all of you had an awesome couple of weeks off to celebrate and share time with your friends, family, or just you (trust me, after over 100 people being in an out of our house over the past 3 weeks, I need some “me” time). What I REALLY hope is that even with all the chaos swirling around you, you felt THE MS GYM CALLING YOU BACK. I can tell you that over the past 4 days, I have been yearning to get back to you and get back on the playing field with my athletes. So before WE ALL put crazy pressure on us to start rocking out our 2020 goals, I want to make sure you enter your journey with healthy expectations and increase your chances for success. This time of year, especially this upcoming week, can be a rough one for many people because you are coming out of a very energy demanding season. The decorations come down, everyone is getting back to “the grind,” and THE SUGAR DETOX begins (I think that may be the worst part). Many people experience an emotional let-down, loneliness, and the stress of being OUT OF RHYTHM and realizing they have to “do life” again on Monday. Here’s the crazy part… it’s this time of year that people try to go full-throttle into their New Year’s goals. People are all fired-up to tackle 2020 but, here is the humorous reality: Right now, your brain, body, and nervous system are trying to figure out what the hell just happened over the past month and now you are planning to demand that it start learning AN ENTIRELY NEW WAY TO LIVE? Based on EVERYTHING I’ve taught you about your threat bucket, this upcoming week is the WORST time to try and GO BIG & CONQUER YOUR GOALS! Even if you had an AWESOME Holiday season, your brain was still under a LOT of abnormal and unpredictable events (good and bad) and what do we know about your brain? It CRAVES PREDICTABILITY and doesn’t like change. Therefore, in order to get you started on the right track toward your next MS Gym victory, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING the “go big” mentality.
